We are now in network with Aetna. If you have Aetna insurance, please proceed to scheduling an appointment. If you have other insurance, you may be able to secure insurance preauthorization for lactation consults with Cedar Sage Lactation Services. For all insurance plans connected with the MultiPlan network (excluding Cigna), you may be preauthorized for lactation consults through The Lactation Network. Look for the MultiPlan logo on your insurance card. If you have the MultiPlan logo, or if your insurance plan is Blue Cross/Blue Shield PPO or United Healthcare (Commercial), click on the button below to get preauthorized through The Lactation Network. Preauthorization is easy and quick. Once you're preauthorized, you can make an appointment with Cedar Sage Lactation Services for your lactation consult.
In-person consults are available to homes located in Gig Harbor, Port Orchard, North Tacoma, and University Place.
Please contact Kathleen via email for more information at kws.ibclc@gmail.com.
In-person consults typically include a thorough pregnancy and birth history of both parent and child, a baby weight check, and a full feeding assessment. In addition, we will collaborate with you on a care plan that will move you closer to your feeding goals. Initial in-person consults are 60-90 minutes long. Follow-up in-person consults are 30-60 minutes long. We also offer in-person prenatal consults.
Initial in-person consults are typically $250, sliding scale available.
Follow-up in-person consults are typically $200, sliding scale available.

I have been a breastfeeding counselor for 27 years, including over 16 years as a hospital-based board certified lactation consultant (IBCLC). I understand the challenges and concerns many parents have about meeting their breast/chest-feeding goals. My mission is simple: provide gentle lactation education and support backed by exceptional clinical skills.
I have supported lactating parents from birth through toddlerhood and beyond. I have extensive experience supporting parents through many breastfeeding challenges including: non-latching babies, painful latch, low milk supply, returning to work, exclusive pumping, inducing lactation, and many more. I have personal experience with breastfeeding a premature baby, and years of clinical experience supporting parents of premature/hospitalized babies.
